Intelligence & Cognitive Abilities
Intelligence & Cognitive Abilities (ICA) is a new Open Access journal founded in 2025 by Thomas Coyle and Richard Haier. ICA provides an unbiased platform for research on human intelligence, cognitive abilities, and related traits, guided by Mertonian norms of science. The journal primarily publishes empirical work across psychometric, genetic, developmental, educational, social, cultural, evolutionary, and neuroscientific perspectives, with occasional reviews and discussions. ICA does not publish on topics such as AI algorithms, emotional intelligence, personality, or policy proposals unless directly linked to cognitive measures. Articles undergo double-blind peer review and are published quarterly, with accepted papers appearing online in advance. ICA is now ISIR’s official journal, and members of ISIR receive a 50% discount on the standard publication fee.
