Welcome to Vienna!

With ISIR 2022 beginning in just a few days, we wanted to provide a few last-minute updates to help make your conference experience as good as possible!

Location: The conference and all associated events will be held at the Main Building of the University of Vienna, located at Universitätsring 1. If you are lodging at the Hotel Regina, this is about an 8-minute walk from the conference venue. Please see this document for maps of the university and subway system.

Registration: For those who have not registered online, on-site registration will be available starting at 16:45 on Sunday evening and Monday morning at 8:45. Please register or check in at the desk at the venue when you arrive (in front of the ceremonial hall in the main building of the university) to receive your badge, program, and conference swag. Spouse registration is available on-site for 100€.

Welcome and invited speakers: We have an exciting showing of invited and keynote speakers, beginning with Dr. Matt McGue of the University of Minnesota, who will be speaking at our welcome reception on Sunday, July 24th at 17:00. Please join us for his opening talk “Without merit: The costs and benefits of an imperfect system” with refreshments courtesy of the Institute for Mental Chronometry.

Additionally, make sure to join us for an exciting invited talk by Steven Pinker of Harvard University at 16:10 on Tuesday the 26th! He will be speaking on “Rationality: What it is, why it seems scarce, why it matters.”

Audio/Video setup for presentations: You can bring your talk on a flash drive or connect a laptop to our A/V equipment. For laptop connections, an HDMI port is needed, and we will have a handful of HDMI adapters available for Apple laptops. Presenter view will be available for PowerPoint presentations.

Social event: Our main social event will take place on the evening of Tuesday, July 26. The event will take place in the large ceremonial hall of the main building of the University of Vienna. There will be signs to direct you from the two entrances, and you can find a map of the Main Building here (German and English).

Business dress is not required for the social event; business casual is fine.

Green meeting: Our ISIR Vienna conference will be participating in a global effort to reduce our carbon footprint. The aim is to organize the event according to the criteria of the Austrian Eco-label for Green Meetings/Events, meaning that we will strive to use only recyclable materials and ensure that conference hotels are accessible by public transportation. The event was certified and complies with the guidelines of the Austrian Environmental Label Green Meetings.

COVID protocols: Proof of vaccination or negative PCR tests are not required to gain entrance to the conference. Masks are welcomed but not required.
